Gabion
A Geotag Gabion wall is a type of retaining wall made of a rectangular container or a cage woven of thick galvanised wire. It is then filled with stone or concrete, stacked on top of one another, usually in tiers that step back with the slope rather than vertically.
A Geotag Gabion wall is used to stabilise shorelines, highways, and slopes against erosion. In addition, gabion walls are also executed as temporary floodwalls, temporary or permanent dams, river training, and channel lining.
They provide valid and effective technical solutions in terms of the design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of stone-filled protective structures.
Advantages of Gabion Structures
Gabions are more advantageous over other types of construction materials, especially when used on unstable foundations. They are more economical and leave fewer carbon footprints when used in civil engineering or any other construction site.

Geotag Welded Mesh Gabions
Geotag welded mesh gabions are galfan-coated with zinc and aluminium to enhance their anti-corrosive properties. Zinc-aluminium coatings have better corrosion resistance than traditional zinc coatings. In general, zinc corrodes at a faster rate than aluminium. During the corrosion process as the zinc element corrodes, an aluminium-rich surface is developed, which has greater resistance to corrosion, thereby extending the life of the protection. The coating provides a finer microstructure and better cathodic protection, such that even if there is a scratched surface, corrosion protection is maintained. Zinc-aluminium-coated geotag welded mesh gabions have a life expectancy of three or four times that of zinc coating.
Geotag welded mesh gabions can also be thermally coated with PVC to safeguard against corrosion and other weather effects, especially when the gabions are to be used in marine, salty, and highly polluted environments.
Geotag Welded Mesh Gabions are packed without the filling for ease of transportation or pre-filled only when necessary because of the high transportation and storage costs.
Geotag Woven Mesh Gabions
Geotag woven mesh gabion, also known as a stone-filled cage, is a triple twisted hexagonal mesh, stone-filled gabion basket. They are predominantly used in the construction of walls.
Geotag woven mesh gabions baskets and mattresses are made of mesh fabric, and they are available in plain, heavily galvanised wires or PVC-coated galvanised wires, which are highly durable and have the ability to adapt to any environmental condition. The standard colour of the PVC coating is grey. They are extremely tough, flexible, and rough- looking.
