Geosynthetic Clay Liner

Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL’s) is a high performance geocomposite consisting of sodium bentonite clay, sandwiched between, supported and encapsulated by two geotextiles held together by mechanical bonding. Fibres from the non-woven geotextile are mechanically bonded through the layer of bentonite and incorporated into the other geotextile (either a woven or non-woven). This process results in a strong mechanical bond between the fabrics. These are made into large rolls for easy installation.

PROPERTIES

Sodium bentonite clay is a natural occurring clay mineral that swells when wet and hydrated. When this hydration occurs under confinement, the bentonite swells to form a low permeability clay layer that acts as a hydraulic barrier to fluids.

APPLICATIONS

Composite Linings

Geosynthetic Clay Lining can completely or partially replace thick, multi-lift compacted clay linings in composite landfill and caps due to the efficiency of the high swelling natural sodium bentonite clay.

Secondary Containment
Excellent for secondary containment barriers in above ground tank farms due to the ease of installation and virtually effortless pipe penetration construction.

Liquid Containment & Surface Impoundments

Exceptional liquid containment in reservoirs, irrigation canals, industrial ponds and lagoons due to their low permeability and high internal shear strength.

INSTALLATIONS

Installation of Geotag Geocomposite Clay Liners is fast and easy. Simply position the product into place and fasten. Geotag Geocomposite Clay Liners can be easily cut on site to form around corners and penetrations. The result is always a consistent self-healing membrane. Proper installation techniques shall be adopted to facilitate good installation of the product.
